We were recently gifted a case of MALK in an assortment of flavors. We tasted them. And, respectfully, we’re obsessed.
When lactose intolerance is part of your life, finding a dairy alternative can feel like an ongoing audition. You want something you actually look forward to drinking. Something that earns its spot in the fridge through taste.
MALK passed that test for us.
MALK makes organic plant-based milks and creamers, with options built around ingredients including almonds, oats, cashews, coconut, and soy. What caught our attention after the first sip was how straightforward some of its recipes are. Explore MALK’s lineup
Three ingredients. Plenty to talk about.
Take Unsweetened Almond MALK: filtered water, organic almonds, and Himalayan pink salt. That’s the full ingredient list. Almonds provide the characteristic flavor and naturally occurring fats, while salt helps bring the flavor forward. There are no added gums, oils, or sweeteners in this formula. Original Oat MALK follows a similar approach, combining filtered water, organic gluten-free oats, and Himalayan pink salt. It gives people who prefer an oat base another simple option for breakfast bowls, smoothies, and everyday pouring. Original Oat MALK ingredients
That simplicity is appealing if you like knowing exactly what goes into your daily drink. It also comes with a small practical instruction: shake the bottle. MALK explains that settling and separation happen naturally in its products. A little shake before pouring is part of the routine. MALK’s separation guidance
What “good for you” means here
For us, the useful starting point is a dairy-free drink we enjoy. The Unsweetened Almond formula also offers an option without added sugar.
But a short ingredient list doesn’t tell the entire nutrition story. The listed nutrition for an eight-ounce serving of Unsweetened Almond MALK includes 70 calories, 2 grams of protein, and zero grams of sugar. It contains 40 milligrams of calcium and no vitamin D. Those numbers apply to that specific product, so check the bottle you choose. Nutrition facts
MALK confirms it does not add calcium to its almond milk. If you rely on milk for calcium, vitamin D, or protein, compare those nutrients when switching. The FDA notes that plant-based alternatives can differ considerably in nutritional content. MALK’s calcium information · FDA’s guide to milk alternatives
And dairy-free doesn’t mean allergen-free: the almond version contains almonds.
A new reason to open the fridge
What we appreciate about MALK is that the ingredient story gives us something specific to like beyond the packaging. You can choose a straightforward base and work it into the things you already make, from cereal to a morning smoothie.
We’re not claiming every flavor will be everyone’s favorite. Our gifted assortment simply delivered something we had been looking for: a dairy alternative we’re excited about.
The case was a gift. The fridge space is now permanent.
